In Honor...

In honor of the inspiration for this blog, which will present my literary features, I would like to post a quote. From V For Vendetta, this is perhaps one on the greatest uses of alliteration ever conceived!

"VoilĂ ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. [laughs] Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me 'V'".

I am in the process of writing three novels.

  • The first is one I began in 2006 during a summer internship at the Maritime Museum in Bermuda.  The theme is fitting: pirates.  The story follows the life of one woman, from the despair of her childhood, through the adventures of her young life, and into the complexities of love, fear, and vengeance of her twenties.  Nothing is ever easy when your life is held in the balance of betrayal and love in an attempt to survive from port to port.
  • The second is a fantastical story with fictional elements and ideas pulled from all the wonderful themes of fantasy: magic, tyrants, love, loss, bonds of family, failure, death, and the desire to bring peace. The idea emerged after my sister and I (who I am extremely close to) exited the theater after seeing "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe."  "It's stupid," she said, anxiously.  "I would never go back.  It's not fair that they have to."  So began an epic journey of two sisters, commanded by prophecy to a mythical land to rescue its people from a tyrant bent on controlling the world.  They possess magic, which is unknown to them, but will their secretive teacher be able to train them in time to do battle with the lord of fear and terror before he can get to them?
  • The last story came from a childhood game.  I realized that this would be considered fanfiction, because it is based on an actual game already, but I've yet to find anything ever done on it.  The game is "Tales of the Crystals" and anyone over the age of 25 would remember it as a RPG using the imagination as its key tool.  My story deters from the constant looming of the villain to the rising of her new power after many generations.  The oracle of the world is kidnapped but not before releasing an ancient power beset by the faeries to join four individuals together to battle with the evil of the sorceress.  Clad only with the power of their crystals and the help from the council, they must defend Collingwood and drive out the evil for good. (I do not own the characters in this story).
The first two stories are my original ideas.  I am primarily using this blog as a way to organize everything and possibly get feedback.  Please leave comments as I would greatly appreciate any advice to make these stories come to their full potential.  Enjoy!

Revision 7/24/2013: Have decided to begin a fourth story.  This one will not take priority over the first two, but I want to start writing down the ideas for the novel and planning the story line.
  • This story can be another fan fiction, since it takes place in the future timeline of the show but has never been explored.  I was obsessed with Eliza Thornberry when I was young and that might have been an aid to my career choice: primatology.  So where will this story lead?  Into the depths of Eliza's worst nightmares, of course.  Out of college with a degree in law and conservation, she's ready to take on her biggest adventure ever.  Congress.  With hundreds of animals sold on the black market, she's ready to take on the challenge of stopping the murder and injustice.  But she has no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes. What happens when justice comes with a cost that she doesn't know if she can bare?
Revision 5/17/2015: I have begun two additional stories of fanfiction. I apologize for having so many varying story lines, but I find my attention to wavier if held on one thing for too long.
  • The first is a Marvel AU background story of Black Widow and Hawkeye. While I ship Natasha and Clint, I really wanted to unleash my thoughts and desires on how they became friends and the things they did as Strike Team Delta based on the limited lines and rumors (Budapest, for example).
  • The second is my current obsession: How to Train your Dragon. There are actually two stories. The first takes place within the Dreamworks canon post-HTTYD2. The second my current work and is an extended piece based on Queen Aurora's AU. I loved her story "Return of the Dragon Rider" and her current prequel "The Adventurous Adventures of Hiccup and Wrenlou." They are both amazing pieces of fiction, but like all fanfiction, I'm left with my own wishes and desires for more. While some of the same events will take place as she writes them, I wanted to expand and really create a detailed life of Hiccup's ten years away from Berk.
